  • Save Money

All you need to know about LED lighting!

Lighting. It’s something we take for granted yet rely on to run our lives. But what you may not realise is that changing your lighting habits is one of the easiest ways to reduce your energy usage and hence save you money. Simply switching to LED lighting can save on average 90% compared to incandescent light bulbs (the old ones most of us still have around the house). If you’re thinking it all sounds too good to be true. Well, it’s….NOT! And we don’t want you to take our word for it either! So we’ve made some films. The Osram LED Lighting challenge saw 10 households in the village of Westbourne, West Sussex switch to LED lighting for one month. Watch the video to see the results for yourself!

At Home with Energy

Watch Jamie Pitcairn from Ricardo AEA share his insights on how to help us cut energy use through appliances and save money and water too. Appliances from kitchen goods and home media to computer equipment take up a staggering amount of energy – both in powering the appliance and in many instances heating the water for use in the appliance- think washing machine, dishwasher, kettle etc. On top of that homes can waste as much as 16% of their electricity bill spending up to £86 a year powering appliances that aren’t even in use!
